Metso Outotec has signed a 100 million euro sustainability loan agreement with Nordic Investment Bank

Metso Outotec and the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) today signed an eight-year contract 100 million euros sustainability loan agreement. Loan terms are linked to mutually agreed sustainability goals that relate to Metso Outotec reduce CO from its own operations and supply chain2 emissions by 2025.

Sustainability is a strategic priority for Metso Outotec and the company has set science-based targets (SBT) in alignment with limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees. The Sustainability Loan Agreement is the continuation of Metso Outotec previous agreement in September 2021 with the core banking group to include sustainability objectives in the 600 million euros Syndicated revolving credit.

Metso Outotec and the NIB have agreed to include three objectives related to sustainability in the loan which are:

  • CO reduction2 emissions from the Group’s own activities
  • CO reduction2 Group logistics emissions
  • Group suppliers with a Science Based CO2 emission reduction target

The evolution of these targets will be measured annually. Depending on the achievement of these goals, the price of the loan will decrease or increase.
